Pokémon TCG Pocket finally tackles trading in new update, but it\'s not coming until autumn

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 15,2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket is shaking things up with some significant changes to its trading system. The much-maligned Trade Tokens are being completely removed, replaced by a new currency: Shinedust. You'll earn Shinedust by opening booster packs and receiving duplicate cards already in your Card Dex. Your existing Trade Tokens can be converted to Shinedust.

This change addresses early criticisms of the trading system, which was hampered by the scarcity of Trade Tokens and restrictive trading parameters. However, the transition isn't immediate. Further adjustments are planned for Shinedust, including its integration with flair acquisition. An upcoming update will also introduce an in-game sharing feature to streamline the trading process.

The initial trading system was criticized for being overly restrictive, a necessary evil to prevent abuse within the digital environment. While these changes are welcome, their implementation is slow. The update is slated for autumn, meaning players will have to wait several months for these improvements.
