Pokémon Adds Another Game to the NSO Library

Get ready for a dungeon-crawling adventure! Nintendo has announced that the classic Game Boy Advance title, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team, will be added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service on August 9th. This beloved roguelike spin-off allows players to experience the Pokémon world from a unique perspective – as a Pokémon! Explore twisting dungeons, embark on thrilling missions, and uncover the mystery behind your transformation. This addition expands the already impressive library of classic games available to Expansion Pack subscribers, encompassing titles from Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, and Sega Genesis.

Mainline Pokémon Games Still Sought After

While the addition of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team is exciting news, many fans continue to express their desire for mainline Pokémon games, such as Pokémon Red and Blue, to be included in the Expansion Pack. The current selection primarily features spin-off titles, including Pokémon Snap and Pokémon Puzzle League. Speculation regarding the absence of mainline games ranges from potential compatibility issues with the N64 Transfer Pak to complexities related to Nintendo Switch Online's infrastructure and integration with the Pokémon Home app. The latter, not wholly owned by Nintendo, presents potential contractual challenges.

Furthermore, the festival includes free game trials of four unreleased multiplayer Switch titles from August 19th to 25th, followed by a Nintendo Mega Multiplayer game sale from August 26th to September 8th, 2024.
