Assassin’s Creed Shadows Character Will Be Played by One Piece Star Mackenyu Arata

Mackenyu, celebrated for his role as Roronoa Zoro in Netflix's live-action One Piece adaptation, has officially joined the cast of Assassin’s Creed Shadows—Ubisoft's highly anticipated feudal Japan-themed RPG.

The Japanese star will lend his voice in both English and Japanese to Gennojo, a significant character players encounter in Shadows' narrative. Ubisoft describes Gennojo as an instrumental ally who aids the protagonist in identifying and neutralizing high-value targets.

Ubisoft elaborated on Gennojo's complex personality: "A charismatic yet reckless rogue, Gennojo embodies contradictions—haunted by past mistakes yet determined to dismantle corruption through cunning, charm, and calculated risks. Beneath his roguish exterior lies unwavering dedication to justice, particularly in defending society's most vulnerable."

While Gennojo's exact introduction point remains undisclosed, developers confirm his importance across multiple missions. Mackenyu teased that players may recruit this "Shinobi League" member as a dynamic companion throughout their adventure.
