Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer Reveals Superman Connections With Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner in the Very First Scene

Max has unveiled an exciting new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, intensifying the connections to the Superman universe by introducing Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner right from the opening scene. The trailer starts with Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl conducting a rather dismissive interview with John Cena’s character, Peacemaker, for a potential superhero team. The interview quickly derails, leaving Peacemaker visibly frustrated as he exits the building.

This trailer offers a first look at several supporting characters who will also feature in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film. The message is clear: Achieving peace is a team effort. Season 2 of Peacemaker is set to stream on Max starting August 21, following closely on the heels of Superman's release on July 11, marking it as the third entry in the newly established DCU, after the Creature Commandos TV series that kicked off the franchise last year.

James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran are steering the DCU away from the criticized DC Extended Universe, which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, certain elements from the old universe will persist, with Peacemaker serving as a bridge between the two. While Season 1 was part of the DCEU, Season 2 firmly plants itself in the new DCU.

James Gunn has emphasized that many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes, though specifics on what will transition from the DCEU to the DCU remain undisclosed. What is confirmed is the return of the entire Team Peacemaker cast, including John Cena reprising his lead role, alongside Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

Gunn has also revealed that Peacemaker Season 2 will be set after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's storyline directly impacting Peacemaker’s narrative arc. This integration promises a richer, more interconnected universe for fans to explore.
