Palworld Dating Sim Confirmed: Not an April Fools' Joke, Says Dev

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 21,2025

Developer Pocketpair has unveiled an exciting new addition to their universe with Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating sim set within their widely acclaimed monster-catching world. This announcement, made on March 31, isn't an April Fools' Day prank, despite the timing raising eyebrows among fans who are wary of the influx of fake game announcements that typically flood the internet as April begins.

Pocketpair is keen to assure skeptics that Palworld! More Than Just Pals is a legitimate project, inspired by their playful 2024 April Fools' Day stunt. Originally a jest, the concept has now evolved into a real game slated for release on PC via Steam at a future date yet to be announced.

This unique dating sim promises an engaging experience where players will step into the shoes of a transfer student at the prestigious Palagos Private Academy. Here, they'll have the chance to befriend and possibly fall in love with a diverse cast of student Pals, including characters like the "cute" and "mysterious" Katress and the "timid" Chillet, all familiar from the Palworld universe.

An official description from Pocketpair outlines the game's premise: "You, the protagonist, enroll as a transfer student in the prestigious Palagos Private Academy. You will meet unique friends (pals) and enjoy school life through friendship and romance. It's up to you whether you stay friends with the pals, develop romantic relationships with them, or even dismember and eat them."

To dispel any lingering doubts about the game's legitimacy, Bucky from the Palworld team tweeted, "> This doesn't concern April Fools :)"

As fans eagerly await Palworld! More Than Just Pals, they can continue to enjoy the ongoing development of the original Palworld, which celebrated its one-year anniversary in January. Recent updates have introduced crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, a photo mode, and more, keeping the community engaged while they anticipate the dating sim's release. Additionally, there's a glimmer of hope for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld, and if that doesn't materialize, fans can still look forward to the possibility of Palworld! More Than Just Pals making its way to the console.
