Sega's iconic arcade racing game, OutRun, is gearing up for an unexpected leap to the big screen, with blockbuster director Michael Bay at the helm and actress Sydney Sweeney attached as a producer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures has enlisted Bay, famous for his work on the Transformers franchise, to direct and produce the upcoming OutRun movie. The screenplay will be penned by Jayson Rothwell, though plot details and a release date remain under wraps.

On the Sega front, Toru Nakahara, a key figure in the Sonic movie projects, will serve as a producer. Shuji Utsumi, CEO of Sega America and Europe, will oversee the film, ensuring the adaptation stays true to the game's legacy.
