Nintendo has recently revealed the pricing for upgrading two popular titles from the original Switch to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. The cost for these upgrades is significantly higher than previously announced upgrades for other games.
For instance, upgrading The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to their Switch 2 Editions costs $9.99 each. In contrast, NintendoLife reported that the upgrades for Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree are priced at more than double this amount each.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, achievements, and integration with the new "Zelda Notes" service available through the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Switch version can access these enhancements by purchasing a $10 upgrade pack.
The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces new story content called Star-Crossed World. On the other hand, Super Mario Party Jamboree's Switch 2 Edition features a new mode, Jamboree TV, which leverages the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, the Switch 2 microphone, and the Switch 2 USB-C camera, available separately. Additionally, this edition offers upgraded resolution up to 1440p in TV mode, improved frame rates, new minigames, and enhanced online functionalities.
While U.S. prices on the American Nintendo eShop are not yet available—potentially due to uncertainties with President Trump's tariffs—the UK Nintendo eShop lists the upgrade pack for Kirby and the Forgotten Land at £16.99 / €19.99, significantly higher than the £7.99 / €9.99 for upgrading either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom. The same pricing applies to the Super Mario Party Jamboree upgrade, suggesting a U.S. price of $19.99.
The higher $20 upgrade cost for both games may be linked to the elevated $80 price tag for the complete Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of Kirby and The Forgotten Land + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV. The original Switch versions of these games are priced at $59.99 each, which is $20 less.
For those not upgrading, the cost of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games in the U.S. is as follows:
It's worth noting that the upgrade packs for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are available at no additional cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers. However, no such offer exists for Kirby or Party Jamboree upgrades.
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders, which began on April 24, are priced at $449.99. Despite the high demand, Nintendo has warned U.S. customers that pre-order delivery on the release date is not guaranteed. For more details, check out IGN's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
