Developed collaboratively by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, Ninja Gaiden 4 marks the series' return after a 13-year hiatus. The collaboration with PlatinumGames promises a blend of classic Ninja Gaiden action with Platinum's signature speed and dynamism.

A key element is the introduction of a new protagonist: Yakumo, a young ninja from the rival Raven clan, striving to become a Master Ninja. Art Director Tomoko Nishii (PlatinumGames) describes Yakumo as a character designed to stand alongside Ryu Hayabusa, while Producer/Director Yuji Nakao (PlatinumGames) explains that the new hero aims to broaden the series' appeal to newcomers while still satisfying longtime fans. Ryu Hayabusa remains a crucial part of the narrative and will even be playable.

The combat system introduces the Bloodbind Ninjutsu Nue Style, alongside Yakumo's Raven Style. While distinct from Ryu's style, Team Ninja assures fans the action will remain true to the series' core. The game is currently 70-80% complete, entering the polishing phase.
