NieR: Automata's opening introduces 2B's mission. After deploying and engaging in melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a two-handed sword.

The two-handed weapon, the Virtuous Treaty, is a powerful early-game sword temporarily lost after the prologue. However, it's quickly recoverable upon gaining free-roam access in the subsequent chapter.

Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata

This early-game weapon is easily accessible near your initial spawn point after exiting the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. Locate the highway to the left of the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, utilizing the ruins to climb and reach the main road. This path leads back towards the factory.

Descend into the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. An access point and stairs to an upper area are located on the left. On this upper level, to the left, you'll find the destroyed bridge where you encountered the Goliath-class enemy. The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the edge of this bridge.

Your discarded equipment from the prologue, containing consumables, is located just to the right of the sword.

Virtuous Treaty Stats in NieR: Automata

  • Attack Power: 300-330
  • Combo: Light 2, Heavy 2

Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels in wide-sweeping attacks, dealing significant damage to multiple enemies. Its attack speed is notably slower. However, upgrades can potentially make it one of the game's highest-damage weapons, provided you adapt to its slower pace. You can also incorporate it into combos with faster weapons by using a heavy attack during their sequences. While this prevents a full Virtuous Treaty combo, it leverages its high damage output to offset its slow speed.
