Square Enix recently celebrated the NieR 15th Anniversary with a special livestream, unveiling a host of exciting events and updates for fans of the franchise. Dive into the details of what's planned for NieR's future and catch up with the monthly developer blog for NieR Re[in]carnation.
As part of the NieR 15th Anniversary festivities, Square Enix unveiled a series of announcements that promise to enrich the franchise. On April 19, during the NieR 15th Anniversary livestream, they introduced an online special novel titled [U]ndecided Option.
This novel will be released in three updates; the first is already available, while the second and third will follow on April 25 and May 2, respectively. The novel's synopsis teases, "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."
To complement this announcement, Square Enix also launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, which serves as the central hub for the online novel and all other related projects and events planned for the celebration.
Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork featuring the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Stay tuned for more information on tickets and other details, which will be announced soon.
For music enthusiasts, additional performances of the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 are scheduled in Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are available through a lottery system, and further details can be found on the concert's official website.
Fans can also look forward to a range of new merchandise, including a jazz album from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin' or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024, the NieR Weapon Story book featuring over 650 weapon tales from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, and scale figures of the NieR series protagonists.
NieR Re[in]carnation, the franchise's first mobile title, will launch a developer blog series starting April 28. This blog will offer monthly updates throughout the year, providing insights into the creation process of Re[in]carnation.
Originally released in January 2021, the game was unfortunately shut down in April 2024 due to monetization issues. The announcement of a developer blog for a closed game has sparked curiosity among fans, with many speculating about a possible sequel or remake. However, no official statements regarding this have been made yet.
The livestream concluded with an over 20-minute live performance featuring soundtracks from across the NieR franchise. Square Enix promises more exciting events and merchandise announcements in the near future, ensuring that the celebration of NieR's 15th Anniversary continues to delight fans.
