T.S. Nowlin, known for his work on Maze Runner and Netflix's Project Adam, has joined to write the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad's involvement remains uncertain, Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick franchise, and his production company, 87Eleven Entertainment, will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is also involved in the Ghost of Tsushima film adaptation.

Sifu, released in 2022, achieved significant success, selling over one million copies in its first three weeks. The game follows a martial artist's quest for revenge after their master's death, utilizing a mystical pendant for resurrection at the cost of accelerated aging. The protagonist's journey is fraught with peril and mystery.
