Minecraft Live 2025 Unveils Vibrant Visuals and Flying Happy Ghast

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 18,2025

Minecraft Live 2025 has concluded, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of updates and new content for the iconic video game. The year's first game drop, dubbed "Spring to Life," is set to breathe new life into the Overworld, launching on March 25. This update promises to make biomes feel more immersive and alive with new variants of cows, pigs, and chickens, alongside captivating ambient features such as the glittering firefly bush, falling leaves, and the whispers of sand.

The second game drop, while yet unnamed, introduces a fascinating new block—the Dried Ghast. This block, when rehydrated, transforms into a Ghastling, a smaller, baby version of the Ghast. As it matures, the Ghastling becomes a Happy Ghast, a new mob variant that players can harness and ride, accommodating up to four players in flight. This addition is set to revolutionize exploration and building in Survival Mode, offering a creative-like experience within the survival framework.

A significant visual upgrade, "Vibrant Visuals," was also announced. This update aims to enhance the visual experience of Minecraft without altering gameplay, marking a pivotal step in Mojang's vision for the game's future. For a deeper dive into this upgrade, check out IGN's separate article and visuals comparison video.

In addition to these updates, Mojang shared an exclusive clip for the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed in-game live event. This event, kicking off on March 25 in Midport Village, invites players to join Steve and his movie companions in a dynamic multiplayer experience. Participants will defend the village from piglin attacks through three engaging mini-games, running until April 7. Completing all challenges during the event rewards players with the exclusive Yearn cape.

Mojang's announcements also touched on their broader strategy, including their decision against developing a Minecraft 2, keeping the game non-free-to-play, and avoiding the use of generative AI in game development. These insights, along with more from Mojang's offices in Sweden, offer a comprehensive look at the future of Minecraft.
