The cast for Star Wars: Starfighter is coming together, with Mia Goth reportedly joining Ryan Gosling in the upcoming sci-fi adventure. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Goth—best known for her roles in the X horror film series—will portray an antagonist in Shawn Levy's Star Wars project following his work on Deadpool & Wolverine. A New Chapter in the Star Wars Saga

Starfighter occupies a unique space in the Star Wars timeline—set just five years after The Rise of Skywalker (Episode IX) while standing as a completely independent story. "This isn't connected to previous trilogies," Levy emphasized during Star Wars Celebration 2025. "We're exploring an entirely new era filled with fresh adventures."

Breaking New Ground in the Galaxy

Scheduled to follow 2026's The Mandalorian and Grogu, Starfighter shares only its name with the early 2000s video game series—no narrative connections are expected. Meanwhile, the post-Rise of Skywalker era remains largely uncharted territory, with Daisy Ridley's upcoming Rey-focused film set 15 years later, making Starfighter's five-year gap particularly intriguing for world-building.

While The Rise of Skywalker concluded the battle against Palpatine, it left the galaxy's future largely undefined. Starfighter now offers the first cinematic exploration of this transitional period, bridging the gap between the Skywalker saga's conclusion and Rey's Jedi renaissance.
