US Blocks Marvel Snap Amid TikTok Crackdown

Developed by California-based studio Second Dinner, Marvel Snap faced an unexpected hurdle when ByteDance subsidiary Nuverse - its publisher - became entangled in broader platform restrictions. Alongside apps like CapCut and Lemon8, Marvel Snap's availability on iOS and Android abruptly ended on January 18, 2025.

While outcry grows over authorization issues, PC gamers can still access the title through Steam. Second Dinner's development team expressed surprise at the situation, assuring players they're actively pursuing solutions. An official statement on Platform X reads:

"Marvel Snap isn't going anywhere. We're working around the clock to restore access and will provide regular updates on our progress."

The sudden nature of the disruption proved particularly frustrating, as players received no prior warning. Many continued making in-game purchases unaware of the impending service interruption.

Not all ByteDance-published games were affected equally. Titles like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain fully operational.

Our recent coverage highlighted Moonstone's introduction to the game. As part of Marvel Snap's Ongoing archetype, this timely addition (4/6 power) copies the effects of played 1, 2, and 3-cost Ongoing cards in her lane.

The current roster of low-cost Ongoing cards creates significant potential for Moonstone's impact. Unlike cards like Ant-Man or U.S. Agent that simply generate power through their effects, Moonstone inherits these abilities without their energy costs, enabling rapid power scaling.
