Marvel Halts Development on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Shows

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 23,2025

Marvel Television has reportedly put the brakes on three anticipated shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. According to sources cited by Deadline, these projects were never officially greenlit and their release remains uncertain as Marvel shifts its focus. This strategic pivot comes as Marvel Studios gears up for the launch of the Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again.

This week, Marvel Studios' head of streaming and TV, Brad Winderbaum, unveiled plans to potentially reunite the street-level heroes from the beloved Netflix series—Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders. This move suggests a new direction for Marvel's television offerings, emphasizing character-driven stories within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Marvel Studios is adopting a new approach, developing more shows than it ultimately produces. As Winderbaum explained to Screen Rant last year, "We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next." This cautious strategy aims to ensure that only the most promising projects make it to the screen.

The halt on Nova is particularly notable, especially since just two months ago, it was announced that Ed Bernero, former showrunner of Criminal Minds, was set to write and run the show, with Nova confirmed for Disney+. For more details on Nova, check out IGN's comprehensive coverage.

Strange Academy was slated to focus on a magical school established by the MCU's Doctor Strange, with Wong at the helm. Details about Terror, Inc., however, remain scarce.

What we know for certain about upcoming Marvel TV shows includes the release of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ on March 4, Ironheart on June 24, and Wonder Man in December. On the film front, three MCU movies are scheduled for release this year following Captain America: Brave New World: Thunderbolts in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
