No Man's Sky patch 5.50: everything you need to know

No Man's Sky, the expansive space exploration game, continues its impressive run of updates with the release of version 5.50, "Worlds Part II." This substantial update introduces a massive array of changes, as showcased in a new trailer highlighting improved lighting, breathtaking new biomes and landscapes, and fascinating deep-sea creatures.

The core world generation has undergone a significant overhaul. Players can now discover dramatically altered terrains, including imposing mountains, hidden valleys, and expansive plains. The game's already vast universe expands further with the addition of a new star type, leading to encounters with colossal gas giants boasting dynamic atmospheric effects. New environmental hazards add another layer of challenge, with toxic clouds, volcanic eruptions, thermal geysers, and radioactive fallout presenting significant obstacles.

Exploration extends to the depths with significantly enhanced underwater environments. Players can now plunge miles beneath the surface, venturing into sunless abyssal zones where bioluminescent coral provides the only illumination. This dark, alien realm is home to a host of mysterious and unique lifeforms.

Beyond the new content, quality-of-life improvements have also been implemented. An automatic item sorting system allows players to organize their inventory by name, type, value, or color. Existing features, such as fishing and marine life interactions, have also received enhancements. Finally, a number of bugs have been squashed.
