Lunar DLC for Cyberpunk 2077: Unreleased Space Expansion Details Unveiled

Cyberpunk 2077 enthusiasts were once set to embark on an out-of-this-world adventure with a planned DLC that would take them to the Moon. This ambitious project, unearthed by blogger and dataminer SirMZK through leaks and game code analysis, reveals CD Projekt RED's grand vision for expanding the game's universe into space.

The game files contain references to lunar surface maps, distinct areas such as the Exterior Movie Set and Drug Lab, and a rover model. This lunar setting was envisioned to be expansive, covering approximately a quarter of the size of Night City, and designed with an open-world approach. This would have offered players a thrilling new dimension to explore, far from the familiar neon-lit streets of Night City.

A highlight of the proposed DLC was the Crystal Palace, an elite space station. Although it didn't make it into the final game, eagle-eyed players can spot it in one of the endings where V gazes out of a spaceship window. Furthermore, files indicate a prototype for a zero-gravity bar connected to a scrapped quest named 201, which was part of the Arasaka narrative.

While the Moon DLC didn't come to fruition, fans remain optimistic that some of these innovative ideas might be revived in CD Projekt RED's next project, Orion, which aims to further expand the Cyberpunk universe. However, there's no official word from the studio yet on whether these concepts will be revisited.

Although the Moon DLC remains a dream deferred, the unearthed details offer a tantalizing glimpse into what could have been—a bold venture for Cyberpunk 2077 into uncharted territory, seamlessly blending space exploration with the game's iconic cyberpunk style.
