Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Pebbles or Herring? Ultimate Guide

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 25,2025

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the choice between Pebbles and Herring as your trusty steed is a significant one. Both become available later in the game, after a prologue that sees Henry lose everything, including his original horse. Let's examine each option:

Pebbles:

You'll encounter Pebbles at the Semine estate before Lord Semine's wedding to Agnes. She's located in the stables, but requires purchase to ride during the "The Jaunt" quest with Jan Semine. However, Pebbles holds sentimental value as Henry's former companion, similar to Mutt.

Herring:

Herring becomes available after completing "For Whom the Bell Tolls." If you haven't acquired another horse, Otto von Bergow provides Herring. Alternatively, you can sell Herring to Kabat for 300 Groschen.

The Verdict: Pebbles reigns supreme.

While Herring initially boasts superior base stats, this is deceptive. Each horse unlocks a stat-boosting perk after traveling a certain distance. Pebbles' perk unlocks after a shorter distance (35 kilometers compared to Herring's 50 kilometers), making her the more efficient choice. Even with the boost, Pebbles' stats are respectable:

  • 217 Stamina
  • 353 Capacity
  • 53 Speed
  • 12 Courage

Adding to her practicality, Pebbles is relatively inexpensive (potentially free) and her early acquisition allows for quicker stat enhancement. The sentimental connection to Henry further solidifies her position as the ideal choice. For extensive travel, a reliable steed is crucial, and Pebbles fits the bill perfectly.
