On March 7, 2025, Tripwire, the developer of Killing Floor 3 (KF3), shared on the game’s official Bluesky account that the anticipated co-op horror shooter’s release is now set for an unspecified date later in 2025, following a lackluster beta phase. The announcement arrives just three weeks before the original March 25 launch date.

"We’ve decided to delay Killing Floor 3’s release to a later point in 2025. After reviewing feedback from our recent closed beta, we acknowledge we fell short. Our aim is to deliver a bold evolution for the franchise while preserving the core experience fans expect," Tripwire stated in the Bluesky post. The team is now addressing key issues from the beta, including performance, stability, UI/UX, lighting, and weapon handling.

Fans voiced disappointment on social media, describing the beta as "awkward and unrefined" and a "buggy, disorienting mess." A Reddit user, Captain_Pugman, criticized the game on the Killing Floor subreddit, stating, "When did you lose sight of what makes Killing Floor unique? Right now, Killing Floor 3 feels like it’s chasing trends instead of being true to its roots." Players also noted a shift away from the series’ horror focus toward a futuristic sci-fi aesthetic and frustration over character-locked classes, limiting customization options.

Tripwire expressed optimism in their post, stating, "We’re eager to present a refined version of Killing Floor 3. When we have more to share, you’ll hear it first. Thank you for your patience and steadfast support."

Pre-Orders to Be Refunded, Except on Steam

Senior Community Manager Yoshiro addressed the delay’s impact on digital pre-orders via the Tripwire Interactive Killing Floor 3 forums. He explained that once the delay is updated across storefronts, refund and cancellation processes will begin.

For PlayStation, Xbox, and Epic Game Store users, pre-orders will be automatically canceled and refunded without action required. However, PlayStation users in the United States can choose to retain their pre-order for the new release date or request a refund. If no response is provided within a set period, the pre-order will be canceled and refunded by default.

Steam pre-order customers must manually cancel their purchase and request a refund through Steam’s support system. Those who ordered via third-party platforms or vendors not listed must follow the respective store’s refund policies.
