Idris Elba Pitches Cyberpunk 2077 Live-Action with Keanu Reeves

Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, has publicly expressed his strong desire for a live-action adaptation of the game, featuring himself and Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, promoting his role in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (where he also shares the screen with Reeves), Elba enthusiastically suggested a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film. He stated that a cinematic adaptation featuring his character, Solomon Reed, and Reeves' iconic Johnny Silverhand would be "Whoa."

This isn't just wishful thinking. Variety reported in October 2023 that CD Projekt Red (CDPR) is indeed developing a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 project in collaboration with Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce a year later, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the ongoing live-action The Witcher series suggests a Cyberpunk adaptation is a viable and potentially lucrative venture.

Beyond the live-action prospect, the Cyberpunk universe continues to expand. A prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, has launched, focusing on Rebecca and Pilar before joining Maine's crew. The manga is currently available in several languages, with an English release date yet to be announced. Furthermore, a Blu-ray release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is slated for 2025, and a new animated series is also in the works. CDPR is clearly committed to expanding the Cyberpunk franchise across various media.
