"Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower Than Global Version"

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 28,2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with a notable pricing strategy that varies between Japan and the rest of the world. This new gaming console will come in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system, exclusively available in Japan, and a Multi-Language System for global markets. The Japanese version is priced at approximately $330, whereas the Multi-Language System version will cost $449.99, resulting in a significant price difference of over $100. This variance is largely due to the current exchange rate, with the weakened yen making products in Japan less appealing to international tourists.

Residents of Japan have the option to purchase either version, but the Japanese-language system is restricted to those with a Nintendo Account set to Japan. This version supports only the Japanese language and is limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop. For those interested in using the Switch 2 in multiple languages, Nintendo recommends opting for the Multi-Language System version. Further details about this version will be disclosed on April 4.
