Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlocking and Playstyles

Hyper Light Breaker offers diverse gameplay through its roster of characters, known as Breakers. This guide covers all currently available Breakers and how to unlock them in the early access version.

Unlocking New Characters

To unlock new Breakers, you need Abyss Stones, obtained by defeating Crowns (bosses). First, locate Prisms (represented by golden diamond icons on the map) to access Crown arenas. After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost teleporter and select the Breaker you wish to unlock using your accumulated Abyss Stones. Currently, only two Breakers are unlockable via this method; the process for future characters may differ.

All Characters and Playstyles

Each Breaker starts with a SyCom, defining their base stats and core perk, and significantly influencing their playstyle.

Vermillion

Vermillion's default SyCom is Gunslinger, focusing on ranged combat with a critical hit chain mechanic. His unlockable Tank SyCom enhances his melee capabilities and defense through perfect parries.

Lapis

Lapis initially uses Lightweaver, boosting Rail shot damage after collecting Batteries. Her unlockable Warrior SyCom increases core stats with each upgrade, making her exceptionally powerful late-game.

Goro

Goro is a ranged damage dealer. His Astrologer SyCom accelerates Blade skill charging during ranged attacks, while his unlockable Sniper SyCom boosts critical hit rate. He's high-risk, high-reward, excelling in damage but lacking defensive options.
