Hyper Light Breaker, the 3D rogue-lite successor to Hyper Light Drifter, introduces a compelling multiplayer element. This guide details how to play cooperatively with friends or join random online matches.

Playing with Friends

To play co-op with friends, you'll need to create a private multiplayer room. At the Cursed Outpost hub, interact with the counter to the left of Pherus Bit to access the Multiplayer menu. Select "Create Breaker Team."

Enable "Password Required" and set a password. Invite up to two friends via your platform's social features (PSN, Xbox, Steam supported). The game supports three-player teams.

Friends can join via the invitation or, if they're already in-game, through the "Invitations" tab. Alternatively, your team might appear in the "Join Breaker Team" menu, allowing them to join directly. Remember to share the password!

Random Online Matchmaking

For solo players, Hyper Light Breaker offers public matchmaking. In the Multiplayer menu, choose "Join Breaker Team," then scroll down and select "Join Random Public Breaker Team." The game will find an available public group for you.

Disconnecting from Multiplayer

To leave a multiplayer session, return to the Multiplayer menu at the Cursed Outpost counter. A "Disconnect" option will appear; select it to return to your solo game. Alternatively, you can simply exit the game.
