"Hollow Knight: Silksong Fans Hopeful for Nintendo Direct Reveal Next Week"

Author:Kristen Update:May 02,2025

While some gaming communities, such as the Tomodachi Life fans, are reveling in the excitement from today's Nintendo Direct, others are feeling the sting of disappointment. Notably, the Hollow Knight: Silksong community finds itself once again donning clown makeup after the much-anticipated sequel failed to appear in the showcase.

Fortunately, another opportunity looms on the horizon.

Of course, now we wait for April 2nd

The Silksong fanbase has been riding a rollercoaster of anticipation and letdown for quite some time now. A quick visit to their subreddit or community Discord reveals a flood of memes and "silkposts" filled with fantasies, predictions, and humor surrounding a game that seems perpetually out of reach. Their reactions to back-to-back Nintendo Directs last year, and the frenzy over a chocolate cake photo in January, which sparked a wild goose chase for an ARG that never materialized, have been well-documented. From an outsider's perspective, it's challenging to discern whether the community's reactions stem more from genuine disappointment or from the camaraderie of fans enjoying the ongoing jest with each new showcase announcement.

However, the upcoming showcase carries a heightened sense of urgency. Hollow Knight initially launched on PC, but its surge in popularity truly took off with its release on the Nintendo Switch the following year. This has firmly linked the game with Nintendo's platform in the minds of many fans. The next showcase is particularly significant as it's set to unveil details about the Nintendo Switch 2, including both hardware and potential launch titles. This grand stage seems like the perfect setting for Silksong to make its long-awaited reappearance. While the event will undoubtedly feature a host of first-party titles, Hollow Knight enthusiasts are clinging to the hope that Silksong's immense anticipation and popularity will secure it a spot in such a pivotal showcase, and more importantly, signal that the game is finally ready for release.

Is the Silksong community bracing for yet another letdown, perhaps their 50th since the game's announcement? It's certainly possible. Yet, there are glimmers of hope that a release date announcement might be imminent. A recent Xbox Wire post on indies casually mentioned Silksong, though it could have been a playful nod. More intriguingly, recent backend updates to the game's Steam listing, including a copyright year change, have been noted. However, the community has been through numerous false alarms with Silksong's listings and delistings across various console storefronts over the years, so caution remains the watchword.

The only thing we know for sure is what Team Cherry's marketing and publishing chief, Matthew 'Leth' Griffin, stated in January following the cake incident: "Yes, the game is real, progressing, and will release." All that remains is to wait and imagine the world once Silksong finally arrives.

So, get your clown makeup ready for next week, folks!
