Helldivers 2 Seek Revenge For Mars Attack

Author:Kristen Update:Dec 26,2025

Super Earth faces a full-scale invasion in Helldivers 2's latest update, bringing the frontlines dangerously close to home. As chaos erupts, Helldivers received intel that the Illuminate have obliterated the neighboring planet of Mars, fueling an immediate demand for vengeance.

In-game news reports confirm that Mars has been completely destroyed by the Illuminate. Helldiver Training Sites on the planet were wiped out, and the dedicated facility operators lost their lives defending it.

If you open the Galaxy Map in Helldivers 2 now, you'll see Mars reduced to a shattered, rocky mass.

Until recently, Mars served as the training ground for Helldivers preparing to spread managed democracy across the galaxy. The recent shift in tutorial locations raised concerns a week ago; now, the motive is clear—the Illuminate have struck a place Helldivers 2 players hold dear.

The official Helldivers 2 account shared promotional art on X/Twitter with the rallying cry, "Avenge Mars."

The effort to tug at players' heartstrings appears successful. Helldivers are embracing the narrative—some posting GIFs from Starship Troopers showing Rico's resolve after his home is destroyed, while others share the popular closed-fist meme. Helldivers 2 players are fully invested in the evolving story.

Even amid the in-character posts, the community is having fun with the situation. "Hey, the only ones allowed to kill Helldivers on Mars are Super Earth Drill Instructors!" one user joked. References to DOOM and other media are circulating as well.

The Illuminate's assault on Super Earth is now live with the Heart of Democracy update. Players can drop onto the planet to fend off the alien squids, and although new SEAF reinforcements have arrived, the battle remains chaotic. This conflict will unfold over upcoming Major Orders, and we can likely expect more unexpected twists from game director Joel and Arrowhead Game Studios.
