"Guide to Entering Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria"

Since *Fields of Mistria* launched into Early Access on Steam, players have noticed the Deep Woods area marked on the town map. However, this mysterious location remained locked until the game’s March 2025 update, which introduced new mechanics and story progression. If you're curious about how to access the Deep Woods and locate Caldarus, here's a complete guide to help you navigate this exciting new addition.

How to Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

To unlock the Deep Woods in *Fields of Mistria*, you must first break the Fire Seal and obtain the Dragon’s Breath spell. This powerful ability allows you to destroy the thick vines blocking the entrance to the Deep Woods. The process begins at Floor 60 of the mines, where you’ll find the Priestess’ Fire Seal altar. To activate it, place the following four items on the altar:

• Faceted Rock Gem
• Rockroot
• Emerald
• Sealing Scroll

The first three items can be found between Floors 50 and 59, but acquiring the Sealing Scroll requires teamwork. You'll need to collaborate with Juniper and Balor to obtain it. Specifically, leave these materials in the bin by Balor’s wagon:

• 10 Silver Ingots
• 10 Rubies
• 10 Sapphires
• 10 Emeralds

Once you’ve fulfilled the requirements, speak to Balor again, and he’ll inform you that the Sealing Scroll will arrive the next day. After collecting it, return to the altar and complete the offering ritual.

Breaking magical seals usually concludes with a message from the enigmatic Priestess of the Mines, signaling the completion of the task and unlocking a new biome. However, this time things go differently—the Priestess urges you to leave immediately before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. As your health dwindles, Caldarus appears in human form, rescuing you and retreating to his temple deep within the woods to recover his strength.

He then asks you to find him there, granting you the new offensive spell: Dragon’s Breath. Use this spell to burn away the vines obstructing the Deep Woods entrance. Simply equip it via the pause menu, stand near the blocked path, and activate the spell. This action permanently unlocks the Deep Woods and reveals other previously inaccessible areas across the map.

How to Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, you can locate Caldarus inside his temple nestled within the Deep Woods. This area lies north of the Eastern Road on your map. However, to reach him, you’ll need to use the newly acquired Dragon’s Breath spell to clear the overgrown entrance.

Once the path is open, follow it directly inside and use your axe to remove a stump blocking your way. Continue heading north until you reach the temple. Caldarus awaits you in the northeast corner of the area.

After unlocking the Deep Woods, you can fast travel to the area using the Dragon Statue located on your farm. This teleportation feature costs only 10 Essence, making it a highly efficient option compared to traveling on foot or horseback. Additionally, you can still interact with Caldarus through his statue, even when he’s not physically present.
