Are you ready to take on the fiery challenge of the Quematrice in *Monster Hunter Wilds*? Don’t let its flame-breathing antics and meat-stealing tendencies deter you! We're here to equip you with the knowledge to not only defeat but also capture this formidable beast. Let’s delve into its weaknesses, effective strategies, attacks to watch out for, and the art of capturing the Quematrice.

How to Beat Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Quematrice, a giant chicken-like creature reminiscent of the Cockatrice, is known for its fiery breath rather than petrifying gazes. This mid-sized monster is vulnerable to water-based attacks, making it essential to gear up with water-element weapons. While it doesn't have any resistances, it's immune to Sonic Bombs, so leave those at camp. Given its area-based attacks, ranged weapons can be advantageous for those less confident in close combat.

Be wary of its tail attacks; the tail slam, in particular, is devastating when you're positioned behind it. The Quematrice lifts its tail high before slamming it down, so sidestepping or blocking is crucial to avoid damage. The real danger lies in its fire-based attacks, which not only inflict immediate damage but can also ignite you, causing ongoing health loss and potentially setting the ground ablaze. These attacks are tricky to predict, as the Quematrice may rear its head and roar before spewing flames from its tail. It can also perform a sweeping fire attack after lifting its head and tail, impacting everything around it, or unleash a fiery charge, turning at the last moment to launch flames at you. If you're fighting at a distance, back away as it initiates these moves to evade the flames.

How to Capture Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing the Quematrice requires careful preparation. Equip yourself with both a Shock Trap and a Pitfall Trap, and don’t forget at least two Tranq Bombs. While one trap is technically sufficient, having a backup is a wise strategy in any *Monster Hunter* game, especially if the Quematrice decides to flee or another monster interferes.

Once you’ve whittled down the Quematrice's health to the point where it’s limping, or you notice the skull icon appearing and disappearing on the mini-map, it’s time to set your trap. For a smoother capture, wait until the Quematrice retreats to a new area after limping. Place your trap, lure the monster into it, and then quickly throw two Tranq Bombs to secure your catch.
