GOG Resurrects Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 on PC

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 23,2025

GOG resurrects the cult classic survival horror games, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, bringing them to PC as DRM-free releases. Both titles, originally released on PlayStation, are now available via GOG's Preservation Program, ensuring the original content remains untouched.

Capcom's Dino Crisis 3, an Xbox exclusive, remains the last entry in the series, despite fan calls for a remake or new installment. The release of Exoprimal, a dinosaur-themed multiplayer game, and comments from Dino Crisis creator Shinji Mikami seemingly dashed hopes for a revival.

These PC ports, previously difficult to run on modern systems, have received significant upgrades courtesy of GOG and Capcom. This makes their availability a welcome addition for fans.

GOG highlights the improved experience, stating that Regina's iconic line, "You're extinct!", no longer applies to the games themselves. Enhancements include:

Dino Crisis (GOG Version):

  • Full Windows 10 and 11 compatibility.
  • All six original language localizations (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese).
  • Original, Arrange, and Operation Wipe Out modes.
  • Improved DirectX renderer.
  • Enhanced rendering options (windowed mode, VSync, gamma correction, integer scaling, anti-aliasing, etc.).
  • Up to 4K resolution and 32-bit color depth.
  • Improved geometry, transformations, texturing, and alpha transparency.
  • Improved game registry settings.
  • Bug fixes for animation, video, music, and save file corruption.
  • Broad modern controller support (DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Switch, Logitech F series, and more).

Dino Crisis 2 (GOG Version):

  • Full Windows 10 and 11 compatibility.
  • English and Japanese localizations.
  • Inclusion of Easy difficulty, Dino Colosseum, and Dino Duel modes.
  • Improved DirectX renderer.
  • Enhanced rendering options (windowed mode, VSync, gamma correction, integer scaling, anti-aliasing, etc.).
  • Improved music playback, volume scaling, item rendering, and fog effects.
  • Corrected cartridge box alignment.
  • Bug fixes for video playback, task switching, and game exit.
  • Broad modern controller support (DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Switch, Logitech F series, and more).

Furthermore, GOG launched its Dreamlist, a community voting tool enabling users to suggest games for potential revival or addition to the platform. This initiative aims to gauge community interest and facilitate the release of more classic titles.
