Turn 10 Vows Forza 5, Horizon Support Continues Post-Layoffs

Author:Kristen Update:Dec 19,2025

The official Forza Motorsport account has released a statement to the community addressing ongoing support for both Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5. The developers, Turn 10 and Playground Games, have confirmed they will "continue to support" their current titles.

While it may seem obvious that a studio would support its latest releases, unfortunately, that hasn't been the case. This announcement comes exactly one month after reports surfaced that Turn 10 was heavily impacted during Microsoft's widespread layoffs. Initial rumors suggested around 50% of Turn 10's staff were let go, but later reports indicated even more were affected, potentially the entire or majority of the studio. One former employee mentioned that while the studio remained open to supporting Horizon, the Motorsport division had been completely shut down.

Xbox has yet to issue any official statement regarding Turn 10's status, the situation at Playground Games, or who exactly is posting on Twitter/X claiming continued support for both games. It's also worth noting that the post does not mention anything about future game development. Forza Motorsport is only two years old, while Forza Horizon 5 launched in 2021—leading fans to anticipate a new installment. It remains unclear whether a new title is in the works, whether Forza Motorsport will see a sequel, or if both Forza teams have been reduced to maintaining existing games until further notice.

This update coincides with news regarding other Xbox-supported games. Today, we learned that Xbox canceled Contraband, developed by Avalanche Studios, but Hideo Kojima's OD is still in development. Both Everwild and Perfect Dark were confirmed canceled one month ago during the layoffs.
