Summary

  • Fortnite's latest update brings back fan-favorite items: the Hunting Rifle, Launch Pad, and Cluster Clinger.
  • The Winterfest event features quests, Icy Feet, Blizzard Grenades, and new skins like Mariah Carey, Santa Dogg, and Santa Shaq.

Fortnite's latest update is a nostalgic trip for longtime players, reintroducing beloved gear like the Hunting Rifle and Launch Pad. December has been a whirlwind of activity for Epic Games, with Fortnite releasing numerous new skins alongside its annual Winterfest event.

Winterfest blankets the island in snow, adding festive quests and items such as Icy Feet and Blizzard Grenades. Players can earn rewards from the Cozy Cabin and purchase premium skins featuring Mariah Carey, Santa Dogg, and Santa Shaq. Beyond the holidays, Fortnite continues its collaborations, including partnerships with Cyberpunk 2077 and Batman Ninja. The game's OG mode also receives a significant update.

A recent hotfix for Fortnite's OG mode brings back the Launch Pad, a Chapter 1, Season 1 classic. This traversal item, predating current vehicles and movement boosts, allowed players to quickly reposition or escape danger.

Fortnite Revives Classic Weapons and Items

  • Launch Pad
  • Hunting Rifle
  • Cluster Clinger

The Launch Pad isn't the only returning item. The Hunting Rifle (originally from Chapter 3) provides long-range combat options, especially welcome given the absence of sniper rifles in Chapter 6, Season 1. Chapter 5's Cluster Clingers also make a comeback, appearing in both Battle Royale and Zero Build modes.

The success of Fortnite OG is undeniable. 1.1 million players joined the mode within its first two hours. An accompanying OG Item Shop offers classic skins and items for purchase. However, the return of ultra-rare skins like the Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper has met with mixed reactions from some players.
