"Fitness Boxing feat. Hatsune Miku Reviewed: New Releases, Sales, and Farewells on SwitchArcade"

Author:Kristen Update:May 06,2025

Hello, dear readers, and welcome to the final SwitchArcade Round-Up for September 6th, 2024. This marks the end of an era, as it's the last regular SwitchArcade Round-Up by me here at TouchArcade. Although I won't see the Switch through to its conclusion with these articles, I'm grateful for the journey we've shared over the years. We're going out with a bang, featuring reviews from Mikhail and Shaun, new release summaries, and the usual lists of new and expiring sales. Let's enjoy one last ride together!

Reviews & Mini-Views

Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU ($49.99)

Following the success of Imagineer's Fitness Boxing series, including the amusing yet effective Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star, the collaboration with HATSUNE MIKU in Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU intrigued me. Over the past few weeks, I've tested it alongside Ring Fit Adventure and found it quite impressive.

For newcomers, Fitness Boxing games blend boxing and rhythm mechanics to promote fitness through daily workouts and engaging mini-games. Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU brings the beloved vocaloid into the mix, offering a dedicated mode for her songs alongside regular tracks. Note that this game is exclusively playable with Joy-Con controllers.

The game includes difficulty settings, a free training mode, warm-ups, and tracking features with reminders, even when your Switch is in sleep mode. You can unlock various cosmetics by earning points. While I haven't explored the DLC yet, I found the base game more enjoyable than Fist of the North Star, though the main instructor's voice was a bit off-putting and required adjustment.

Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU successfully integrates Miku into the fitness genre, making it a great companion to other exercise routines like Ring Fit Adventure. -Mikhail Madnani

SwitchArcade Score: 4/5

Magical Delicacy ($24.99)

Magical Delicacy by sKaule and Whitethorn Games piqued my interest after seeing it on Xbox Game Pass. Playing it on the Switch, I found it charming but in need of further refinement. Combining Metroidvania exploration with cooking mechanics, the game excels in parts but struggles to fully merge the genres.

As Flora, a young witch, you cook and craft to aid the community, and the exploration aspect is well-executed despite occasional backtracking frustrations. The pixel art visuals and music are delightful, and the game offers numerous settings, including UI scale and text options, making it suitable for handheld play.

The Switch version runs smoothly, with good rumble feedback. Although Magical Delicacy shows promise, it feels slightly underdeveloped in inventory and backtracking elements. With some updates, it could become an essential title for fans of the genre. -Mikhail Madnani

Aero The Acro-Bat 2 ($5.99)

During the 16-bit era, mascot platformers were all the rage, and Aero The Acro-Bat managed to secure a sequel. Aero The Acro-Bat 2 may not have been a blockbuster, but it's a solid follow-up that refines the original while maintaining its essence.

Sunsoft's efforts to present this reissue are commendable, featuring a tailored emulation wrapper with box and manual scans, achievements, a gallery, jukebox, and cheats. My only wish is that the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive version had been included alongside the Super NES version.

Fans of the original will appreciate this sequel, and even those who found the first game quirky might enjoy the smoother experience here. Ratalaika's enhanced presentation raises hopes for future reissues in the series.

SwitchArcade Score: 3.5/5

Metro Quester | Osaka ($19.99)

Having thoroughly enjoyed the original Metro Quester, I eagerly anticipated Metro Quester | Osaka. This prequel set in Osaka expands on the original with new dungeons, character types, and mechanics, such as using a canoe to navigate water sections.

While it shares much of the original's framework—turn-based combat and top-down exploration—it offers enough new content to keep fans engaged. For newcomers, this game might be the better starting point, offering a fresh yet familiar experience.

Metro Quester | Osaka requires patience and strategic planning, rewarding those who invest time with a satisfying dungeon-crawling adventure.
