New Feature Tracks Challenges in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Summary

  • Treyarch confirms it is working on adding a feature to allow Black Ops 6 players to track challenges in the game's UI.
  • Challenge tracking was available in 2023's Modern Warfare 3, but did not carry over to Black Ops 6.
  • A release date for the feature is currently unknown, but a major content update is coming later this month.

Treyarch Studios, the developer behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, has announced they are diligently working to reinstate the challenge tracking feature within the game's user interface. This much-requested feature, which allowed players to monitor their progress on various in-game challenges, was notably present in the 2023 release of Modern Warfare 3 but was missing from Black Ops 6, much to the dismay of fans. Although a specific release date for this feature remains under wraps, anticipation is building as Season 2 of Black Ops 6 is slated to launch later this month, potentially bringing this long-awaited functionality with it.

On January 9, Treyarch rolled out a significant update for Black Ops 6, introducing a series of enhancements and fixes across both Multiplayer and Zombies modes. The update addressed numerous bugs in the UI and audio systems and increased the XP rewards for the newly introduced Red Light, Green Light game mode in Multiplayer. The Zombies mode, in particular, received substantial attention due to recent community feedback. Following backlash from players, Treyarch promptly reverted a contentious change from the January 3 update, which had increased the time between rounds and delayed zombie spawns after five looped rounds in Directed Mode.

Treyarch Confirms New Black Ops 6 Feature in Development

While the latest patch notes did not mention it, Treyarch has actively engaged with the community on Twitter. In response to a fan's request for a way to track challenges during Multiplayer matches, Treyarch confirmed that this feature is "currently in the works." The absence of challenge tracking in Black Ops 6, despite its inclusion in Modern Warfare 3, had left many fans feeling let down, especially since both games are accessible through the Call of Duty HQ app.

The reintroduction of challenge tracking is poised to revolutionize the way players approach Black Ops 6's challenging Mastery camos. Similar to its implementation in Modern Warfare 3, players will likely be able to select a specific challenge, such as achieving headshot milestones for weapon camos, and view real-time progress through the in-game UI. This will enable gamers to monitor their progress mid-match, rather than waiting until the game concludes.

In another community interaction, Treyarch also confirmed they are developing a significant update for Black Ops 6 Zombies. Responding to a fan's suggestion for separate HUD settings for Multiplayer and Zombies, Treyarch stated that this feature is "also in the works." This forthcoming addition aims to streamline the gaming experience by eliminating the need to adjust HUD settings when switching between game modes.
