The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Includes That Iconic Line Flub From the Original Game

Author:Kristen Update:May 20,2025

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered brings a fresh take on Bethesda's iconic game, enhancing visuals, gameplay mechanics, and more, while still preserving one of the original's most cherished quirks.

Veteran fans of The Elder Scrolls series will fondly remember Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf located in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion first launched on PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, Tandilwe's dialogue became notorious for a particular voice acting flub. Actress Linda Kenyon's repeated attempts at a line were inadvertently left in the game, creating an infamous blooper that has delighted fans for nearly two decades.

As players embarked on their journey through a revitalized Cyrodiil starting yesterday, many eagerly sought to confirm the remaster's fidelity to the original. While numerous environments, character models, and items have received significant updates, fans were thrilled to discover that many of the charming imperfections from the 2006 release remain. Tandilwe's memorable blooper, in all its glory and without subtitles, has made a triumphant return, much to the delight of the community.

In a 2019 interview with Jake 'The Voice' Parr on YouTube, Linda Kenyon addressed the now-famous Oblivion blooper, humorously asserting, "It wasn't my fault!"

As thousands of players dive into Oblivion Remastered, discussions abound on whether the re-release leans more towards a remake or a remaster. Yet, many are simply pleased that much of the original game's endearing jank has been preserved. Both Bethesda and Virtuos made a concerted effort to maintain these elements, and the reception from both new and veteran players has been overwhelmingly positive.
