Elden Ring Nightreign is just hours away from launching, and publisher Bandai Namco has shared details about its essential day-one patch, introducing significant changes to the game.

According to Bandai Namco, this patch enhances the "handling" of playable characters, introduces balance adjustments, modifies text, adds new character scenarios, and enriches the soundtrack. Bug fixes are also included.

Bandai Namco stated that this update optimizes gameplay and stability to ensure a seamless experience as you embark on your journey in Limveld. To confirm you have the latest version of the game on launch day, look for 'Ver. 1.01' displayed in the bottom-right corner of the title screen.

In a recent interview with IGN, Elden Ring Nightreign director Junya Ishizaki discussed the decision to focus on solo and trio gameplay as the core experience options. When asked why there's no option for two players to join together without a third, Ishizaki admitted it was overlooked.

"To be honest, this was simply something that was overlooked during development," Ishizaki explained. "Our primary goal was to create a multiplayer co-op game balanced for three players, so that took precedence. As a player myself, I understand the desire for duo experiences, and we did put considerable effort into ensuring the game is enjoyable for solo players within the established rules and systems. However, the duo aspect was inadvertently neglected. We're currently evaluating ways to address this for future updates."
