Don\'t Starve Together is still coming to mobile, but not to Netflix

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 19,2025

Don't Starve Together, initially announced for Netflix Games in June 2024, will not be coming to the streaming service after all. However, the good news is that the mobile version for iOS and Android devices is still on track. Playdigious and Klei Entertainment are collaborating to bring this survival experience to a global audience via Google Play and the iOS App Store.

The darkly whimsical Don't Starve series challenges players to survive on a hostile island, gathering resources and battling strange creatures as one of several unique characters. The core gameplay remains: don't starve!

While a firm release date is yet to be announced, both developers assure us an official launch date is forthcoming.

Netflix's Shifting Focus?

The cancellation of Don't Starve Together's Netflix exclusivity raises questions about the platform's future commitment to indie games. This, coupled with the removal of other indie titles like Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, suggests a potential shift in strategy.

Don't Starve is a significant franchise, a highly recognizable name in the survival genre. If this title couldn't maintain its Netflix exclusivity, it casts doubt on the future prospects of other indie games on the platform. Netflix's indie game collection has been a major draw for many subscribers, and its potential decline is a concern.
