"Deltarune's Secret Room Reveals Exclusive Switch 2 Feature"

Deltarune’s upcoming Switch 2 version promises a range of exclusive features that set it apart from other platform releases. One of the most intriguing additions is the specially designed “SPECIAL ROOM,” which leverages the Nintendo Switch 2’s enhanced capabilities, particularly its dual Joy-Con mouse controls. This unique room, crafted by Deltarune developer Toby Fox, is specifically tailored to showcase the new console’s advanced functionality.

Exclusive Special Room Designed for Switch 2

As revealed during the recent Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2 and further detailed in a Fangamer newsletter, the SPECIAL ROOM will allow players to experience gameplay mechanics that are only possible with the new Switch 2 hardware. According to Toby Fox, “We made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE—only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!”

For those playing on non-Switch 2 devices, the SPECIAL ROOM will still be accessible but with an alternate control scheme. Additionally, players who have completed the original Deltarune demo on the Nintendo Switch can import their save files into the new Switch 2 version, ensuring continuity in their gaming journey.

Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free

In a surprising move, Toby Fox confirmed that while the full Deltarune game will retail at $24.99 upon release, all future chapters—including Chapters 3 through 5—will be delivered as free updates to existing owners. Originally, Chapters 1 and 2 were released for free in 2018 and 2021 respectively, with later chapters initially announced as paid content. However, this update means players only need to purchase the game once to receive all forthcoming content at no additional cost.

Fox expressed his confidence in the value proposition, saying, “It's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal.”

Soundtrack Available Separately on Steam

Fans of Deltarune’s iconic music will also have the option to purchase the full game soundtrack separately on Steam for $14.99. With over 150 tracks included in the release of Chapters 3 and 4, and future songs being added at no extra cost, the soundtrack promises to be a rich and evolving collection.

Release Date and Platforms

The complete Deltarune experience featuring Chapters 1 through 4 will launch globally on June 5, 2025, coinciding with the Nintendo Switch 2’s official release. The game will also be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch (non-2), and PC platforms, making it widely accessible across generations of hardware.
