Can You Date Romance Options in Fields of Mistria?

Currently, the short answer is no – you can't technically go on a date. However, after spending over 100 hours trying to win March's affection, I can confidently say that the game's existing romance system is still well worth your time and the $13.99 price tag on Steam.

With *Fields of Mistria's* first major update in November 2024, the game increased its previous four-heart cap to six and introduced a new heart event for each romanceable NPC to celebrate relationship milestones. These events unlock at two, four, and six hearts, with playable cutscenes. NPC Studio plans to add eight- and ten-heart events in future updates, but no specific dates or details have been shared beyond the upcoming March 2025 update, which won't increase the heart level cap or introduce new heart events.

While the prospect of more quests around Mistria is exciting, new players might feel disappointed by the current limit on romance development. However, *Fields of Mistria's* romance system is exceptional as it stands, largely thanks to its rich and realistic dialogue that skillfully incorporates flirty elements when dealing with romance options.

The game's existing heart events are also noteworthy. Though early cutscenes can be interpreted as platonic, their ambiguity allows for romantic interpretation, particularly in setting. As your romantic relationships progress, they become increasingly rewarding, even without the ability to go on a proper date.

New players shouldn't dismiss *Fields of Mistria* just because you can't date yet. The last major update introduced the Shooting Star Festival, a summer event that lets you initiate a date-like experience with eligible NPCs, provided you have four hearts with them.
