How to Unlock Artian Weapon Crafting

To begin crafting Artian weapons, you first need to unlock the feature. This requires completing the main story and reaching High Rank. After that, continue playing until you defeat your very first Tempered monster. You’ll know when you’ve encountered one—NPCs will comment on its appearance, noting how many scars it has and how tough it looks.

After defeating this monster, Gemma will reach out to speak with you. She’ll introduce you to the concept of Artian weapons and guide you through a tutorial on how the system works. From there, you’ll learn that she can now craft these highly customizable weapons.

Understanding Artian Weapon Components

Each weapon type requires three specific components to craft. At least one of each must be obtained before you can proceed. But here's where it gets interesting:

  • Rarity Matching: All components used must share the same rarity level to be compatible.
  • Elemental Infusion: The element of your weapon depends on which element appears most frequently across the components. For example:
    • Two Water and one Lightning component = Water element
    • Three Water components = Stronger Water infusion
    • Three different elements = No elemental infusion
  • Artian Bonus: Each component also grants either an Attack boost or Affinity boost. Choose based on your playstyle—Attack increases base damage, while Affinity boosts critical hit chance.

To start building your dream weapon, you’ll first need to gather Artian materials.

How to Get Artian Materials in Monster Hunter Wilds

Tempered Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

Acquiring Artian materials is straightforward—you'll earn them by hunting or capturing Tempered monsters in High Rank. Once you've defeated your first Tempered monster, you'll regularly encounter more across the world. They’re marked on your map with a blue outline, making them easy to identify.

Upon defeating or capturing one, you’ll receive several Artian parts as part of your mission rewards, alongside decorations and other loot. As your Hunter Rank increases, the rarity and quality of these drops will improve accordingly, allowing you to craft stronger weapons over time.

Note: There doesn’t appear to be a direct link between the Tempered monster you defeat and the types of Artian parts it drops. So feel free to hunt whichever ones you enjoy fighting or need for other crafting purposes like armor or weapons.
