Unlocking "Under the Straw Hat" in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: A Comprehensive Guide

Several quests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 require reaching Kuttenberg before activation. Once there, inter-region travel becomes possible. This guide details completing the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest.

Prerequisites: "In Vino Veritas"

Before embarking on "Under the Straw Hat," you must initiate "In Vino Veritas." This quest begins in Kuttenberg. Speak with Casper Rudolf, located on the city's west side, offering free wine samples. He needs information to improve his wine.

You can either directly approach Havel with your wine knowledge or retrieve Casper's book from Adleta and study it. If going straight to Havel, ensure you're clean and wearing decent attire. Choose "Germany," "Steinberger," and "It's missing ginger" as your dialogue options to obtain the necessary information. Return to Casper with your findings.

Infiltrating the Vineyard

Casper now tasks you with infiltrating the vineyard north of Kuttenberg to investigate a specific incense. Avoid trespassing by using the main road. Speak to the recruiter at the vineyard entrance; this triggers the "Under the Straw Hat" quest. Proceed to find Jerome seated on a bench. Inform him of your assigned duties.

Vineyard Work and Incense Acquisition

Your vineyard work begins the following day. You can either perform assigned tasks (moving sacks, picking thistles) for payment or directly search for the incense.

The incense is located in the cellar of the main building. Access requires either lockpicking skills or stealing Jerome's keys. Remember, unauthorized entry results in penalties. Locate the chest in the cellar and retrieve the Sulphur Wicks. Optionally, gather five seedlings for an increased reward (this also involves trespassing).

Quest Completion

After obtaining the Sulphur Wicks (and optionally, the seedlings), return to Casper to complete "Under the Straw Hat" and "In Vino Veritas." You can then progress to other quests, such as "Master Schindel’s Toys."
