Captain America: Brave New World Is One of the Shortest Marvel Cinematic Universe Films

Author:Kristen Update:May 13,2025

"Captain America: Brave New World" marks a historic moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as it becomes the shortest film in the Captain America series and one of the briefest MCU movies overall. AMC Theatres has disclosed that the runtime for "Brave New World" is a concise one hour and 58 minutes, positioning it as the seventh shortest out of the 35 MCU films. This runtime places it under the two-hour mark, a threshold not often crossed in the franchise. Interestingly, all previous Captain America films exceeded this duration, indicating a shift in pacing or content for this latest installment.

While the MCU's earlier phases, Phase 1 and Phase 2, typically housed the shorter films, recent entries like 2022's "The Marvels" with a runtime of one hour and 45 minutes have continued this trend. Other notably brief films include "The Incredible Hulk," "Thor: The Dark World," "Thor," "Doctor Strange," and "Ant-Man." In contrast, "Avengers: Endgame" stands as the longest MCU film at three hours and one minute, followed by "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," "Eternals," and "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3."

"Brave New World" is set to hit theaters on February 14, matching the runtime of "Ant-Man and The Wasp" at one hour and 58 minutes. Despite its imminent release, the film has reportedly undergone numerous rewrites and reshoots, including scenes involving WWE star Seth Rollins. However, it remains unclear how these changes have influenced the film's final length.

This film marks a significant transition for the Captain America saga, being the first without Chris Evans' Steve Rogers at the helm. Instead, Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson steps into the iconic role, promising to carry forward the series' tradition of grounded, espionage-driven narratives. "Brave New World" also delves into deeper Marvel lore, introducing characters like The Leader, a payoff from a tease in "The Incredible Hulk," and featuring Red Hulk, adding layers of intrigue and connection to the broader MCU.
