The Blood of Dawnwalker Devs Aim for Witcher 3 Quality

Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, is creating The Blood of Dawnwalker, an open-world vampire RPG aiming for the quality of The Witcher 3, albeit on a smaller scale. This ambitious project promises a compelling narrative experience.

A Focused, High-Quality Experience

The Blood of Dawnwalker's Development Goals

In an interview with GamesRadar, Creative Director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified the studio's vision. While acknowledging their smaller team and debut title, he emphasized their commitment to AAA-level quality, drawing a direct comparison to The Witcher 3. The team's experience working on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 at CDPR provides a strong foundation for this endeavor. The decision to form Rebel Wolves stemmed from a desire for greater creative freedom.

The Blood of Dawnwalker's World and Story

Tomaszkiewicz anticipates a 30-40 hour main campaign. He argues that playtime isn't the sole determinant of AAA status, citing shorter AAA titles like Call of Duty. The focus is on delivering a robust, high-quality experience within a more manageable scope.

The Blood of Dawnwalker unfolds in the dark fantasy world of Vale Sangora. Players assume the role of Coen, a peasant granted vampiric powers, who embarks on a quest to save his sister. This journey will test his abilities and force him to navigate the dangerous landscape and its inhabitants.

Currently, there's no official release date, but the game is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A gameplay reveal is expected in Summer 2025.
