Blizzard finds itself at the heart of another Overwatch 2 controversy. A newly released Lucio skin, the Cyber DJ, initially priced at $19.99, was unexpectedly offered for free a day later.

The Cyber DJ skin, initially available for purchase, became a free reward for viewers watching a one-hour Twitch broadcast on February 12th, celebrating the future of Overwatch 2. This sparked considerable backlash from players who had already purchased the skin.

This isn't the first instance of Blizzard selling cosmetic items only to later offer them for free. Players are demanding refunds, citing unfair practices. While the Cyber DJ skin has been removed from the in-game store, Blizzard has yet to address refund requests.

Facing stiff competition, particularly from the successful Marvel Rivals, Blizzard aims to revitalize Overwatch 2. A special Overwatch 2 Spotlight event on February 12th will showcase significant gameplay changes, new maps, heroes, and other content. Blizzard will even host prominent streamers at their headquarters to preview upcoming updates.
