Avowed: Explore Ilora's Fate in New Title

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 23,2025

In Avowed, you'll face a crucial decision: free Ilora, a suspicious prisoner, or leave her fate in Fort Northreach. Your ultimate goal is to use her boat to reach Paradis. This guide explores the ramifications of both choices.

Should You Free or Leave Ilora?

While Avowed encourages player agency, freeing Ilora is strongly recommended. This path significantly simplifies Fort Northreach and unlocks a future side quest.

Freeing Ilora: The Benefits

Freeing Ilora provides invaluable assistance in overcoming Fort Northreach's challenges, including defeating Steadman Ralke, the area boss. Early in Avowed, your resources are limited, making Ilora's aid crucial. Furthermore, her rescue paves the way for a smoother experience during the "Escape Plan" side quest later in the game.

How to Free Ilora

Ilora reveals the key to her cell is located in the Warden's Room. Access this room by navigating to the hallway's end, climbing crates, jumping to the adjacent platform, and entering the passage above. Break through the boards on your right to descend into the Warden's Room. The key is near the door. Regardless of your choice regarding Ilora, use the key to unlock the adjacent cell and obtain the Deerskin Gloves.

Leaving Ilora: The Consequences

Choosing not to free Ilora dramatically increases the difficulty of Fort Northreach and the "Escape Plan" quest. Ironically, she won't remain imprisoned; you'll instead face her in combat, further complicating your escape. However, this path offers the opportunity to loot her corpse after the fight.

In conclusion, freeing Ilora offers significant advantages, making your journey through Avowed considerably easier.
