Ananta: NetEase's Open-World RPG Unveiled

NetEase Games and Naked Rain's previously enigmatic Project Mugen has officially been revealed as Ananta, accompanied by a new PV and teaser trailer. The urban, open-world RPG offers a glimpse into its expansive cityscape, Nova City, a diverse cast of characters, and the looming threat of chaotic forces from beyond.

The preview video showcases the game's world, characters, and enemies, highlighting the scale of Nova City and the diverse character designs. While comparisons to MiHoYo's titles, particularly Zenless Zone Zero, are inevitable, Ananta aims to distinguish itself, especially in its character movement mechanics. The game promises a blend of appealing character designs and visually striking combat, a common feature in today's 3D RPGs.

Dynamic Movement and Exploration

The PV highlights impressive character movement capabilities. Whether this translates to seamless traversal across Nova City's streets and rooftops, akin to Spider-Man, remains to be seen. The extent of instancing within the environment is also currently unclear.

While similarities to MiHoYo's Genshin Impact and other titles are apparent, Ananta faces the challenge of establishing its own identity within the crowded 3D gacha RPG market.
