"Amazon's God of War Series Greenlit for Season 2 Before Premiere"

The highly anticipated God of War TV series from Amazon has already secured a two-season commitment, as revealed by showrunner Ronald D. Moore. Moore stepped in to lead the project after the departure of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. In a recent chat with his fellow Battlestar Galactica alum Katee Sackhoff, Moore shared insights into his current endeavors, saying, "Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in. So I'm literally in the writer's room, and working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being a seasoned gamer, Moore has dabbled in classics like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern game controllers, admitting, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead." For the God of War series, Moore has taken on the roles of writer, executive producer, and showrunner, bringing his experience from acclaimed shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and the 2000s Battlestar Galactica to the project.

While the departure of some key team members marked a significant transition, Sony's Cory Barlog continues to serve as an executive producer. The series will be based on the critically acclaimed 2018 God of War game. With Amazon's recent success in renewing other video game adaptations like the Fallout TV show and Secret Level, the future looks promising for God of War's streaming journey.
