MAME4droid (0.37b5)

MAME4droid, developed by David Valdeita (Seleuco), is an Android port of the renowned MAME 0.37b5 emulator originally crafted by Nicola Salmoria and the MAME Team. This emulator, which is also an adaptation of iMAME4all for jailbroken iOS devices and GP2X, WIZ MAME4ALL 2.5 by Franxis, enables users to play over 2000 arcade games directly on their Android devices. It's important to note that due to the vast number of supported games, performance can vary significantly, and some games might not run at all on MAME4droid. Users should be aware that requests for specific games to be supported cannot be accommodated via email.

For optimal performance on older devices, consider adjusting settings such as lowering sound quality or turning it off, using 8-bit depth, underclocking the CPU and sound CPUs, and disabling animations and smooth scaling. To start playing, place your MAME-compatible zipped ROMs in the /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/roms directory. MAME4droid specifically utilizes ROM sets from MAME 0.37b5 and 'GP2X, WIZ 0.37b11'. To convert ROMs from other MAME versions, use the provided "clrmame.dat" file found in /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/ with the ClrMAME Pro utility, available at http://mamedab.emulab.it/clrmamepro/. Please be aware that MAME4droid does not support save states, as it is based on a version of MAME that does not include this feature.
