The game's narrative revolves around the battle of the dead and the cooperative "Union." The world teeters on the brink of ruin due to the invasion of the "Ancient Overlord" and his army of corpses, a threat foretold by ancient prophecies. You'll repeatedly challenge dangerous dungeons by acquiring, altering, and using the forbidden "Buriedbornes" art of possessing their souls. It's a hopeless battle with no redemption or end, yet humanity clings to hope. Across the world, communities of survivors, each with their own goals, continue to resist. By helping each other, you may find a glimmer of hope.

Buriedbornes2 offers countless combinations for character customization. At the start of your adventure, you can create your character by selecting the race, job, and origin of the corpse you'll use. Each legendary piece of equipment found in dungeons has unique abilities. You can hold up to five skills, each of which can be enhanced with up to five skill runes, also obtainable in dungeons. These elements allow you to build your tactics freely from a myriad of options, whether you prefer systematic builds or the thrill of discovering powerful builds through unexpected coincidences.
