12bt,12 Tehni is a two-player board game.
12BT is a traditional chess-like game for two players. Each player begins with 12 pawns. To move a bead (also known as Tehni or Guti), two scenarios can occur. First, if all adjacent positions around a bead are vacant, it can shift to any empty spot. Second, if a player can jump over an opponent's bead, that bead is captured. The winner is the first player to capture all 12 of their opponent’s beads.
It resembles Draughts or Checkers (sometimes called dame, dames, or damas). A similar Arabic game is Quirkat, also known as al-qirq or Alquerque (القرقات). Other related games include Halma, Chinese Checkers, and Konane. Alquerque’s board and setup are very close to the traditional Bara Biti game. While Draughts uses a different board configuration, anyone familiar with it can easily pick up Quirkat, Alquerque (القرقات), or this 12 Biti game.
